Coach D played football for three years in the highly competitive Trinity League before continuing at the collegiate level at SDSU for two years. Football has always been a major part of his life, and he is passionate about passing on the knowledge, discipline, and love for the game he has gained over the years. Coach D has also been coaching the nationally ranked Seals Girls flag football team over the past few years!

Coach Fields is in his second season coaching at Irvine High School, following in the footsteps of his older brothers as a proud alumni. After playing college football at Fresno State and Oklahoma Baptist University, he’s returned to his hometown and now resides in Irvine.

Freshman Head Coach

Coach K is in his second year at Irvine High School. This will be his first year as a head coach. He comes to this program from the Buckeyes, where he coached his son. He currently resides in Irvine with his wife, son, and brother.

Thomas Ricci

Varsity Head Coach

This is Coach Ricci’s seventh year as head coach of our Vaquero Football Program. Previously he has coached at Orange County schools: Villa Park, Foothill, Katella, Ocean View, Bellflower and most recently at Savanna High School where he finished a two-year stint with a 15-8 record and two CIF births. Coach Ricci is also an alum who graduated from Irvine in 1988 and has coached at Irvine in the mid 90’s and mid 2000’s. He is glad to finally be back home! Coach Ricci’s wife and 3 children are alumni as well.

This is Coach Volpe’s first year coaching at the High School level after spending years coaching youth football. He currently has a sophomore on the cheer team and a son who is on the Frosh team. He continues to coach youth football for the Tustin Cobras where he enjoys not only teaching the game but focusing on creating the next generation of great young men.

Assistant Coach

This is Coach Moss’s eighth year coaching Varsity Wide Receivers and second year as the Varsity Passing Game Coordinator for the Vaqueros. Coach Moss has over a decade of experience coaching at the youth level both in Pop Warner and Junior All American. He has also been volunteering for the Irvine Football program for the last eight years. Coach Moss and his wife Sandi have four Irvine Vaqueros Alumni, Beck, Drew, Harper and Deacon. His two sons are both playing college football, Beck heading into his senior season at Northwestern Oklahoma State and Deacon playing his freshman year at Santa Ana College.
